IVIE Code of Conduct

  1. Subsection (A): Code of conduct for Players
  2. Subsection (B): Code of conduct for Moderators

(A): Code of Conduct for the Players of the IVIE Community.

Respect the Community:

We want our IVIE Community to be a welcoming, fun and safe environment for all players; on and off-line. Following these common-sense guidelines will help to ensure you and other players have a great experience, and that others are not affected negatively by your game play.

Remember that certain interactions that seem harmless or fun to you may be perceived completely differently by other players or bystanders.

Treat other players and bystanders with respect and courtesy and conduct yourself in an appropriate manner when connecting and interacting with our community in and out of game. In particular:

Harassment: Never do anything that would be perceived as harassment, stalking, bullying, intimidation or inciting others to do the same. Violations can result in sanctions, suspension or termination of your community membership.

Please keep in mind that IVIE has no ability to ban other users from the game itself.

If you feel that someone is harassing you please don't forget that you can temporarily remove yourself from the situation by blocking them in Comm. You can also report to Google about any harassment on G+. If you are scared for yours or someone else's safety please contact your local police.

Privacy: Don't post, repost or reveal in Comm, other information about another user's identity, including their name, phone number, email or physical address, even if a player reveals that info first. Violations can result in sanctions, or suspension or termination of your community membership.

Spam: Everyone hates spam, I like my spam with eggs - so unless it's food Spam, don't post any.

Inappropriate Content: We may review the Content you have posted to IVIE Community (images, text, etc), particularly if another user finds it as offensive, and may remove it if we believe it's inappropriate for the game. That may include sexual or pornographic content, obscenity, or hate speech. ("Hate speech" refers to content that promotes hatred against members of a any group. For instance, racist or sexist content may be considered hate speech). Remember, you come face to face with real people; be respectful to one another and don't say things you wouldn't normally say at work or in front of your mother.

We Enforce These Guidelines

If these guidelines are violated, the user may be subject to sanctions and restrictions, for example: being asked not to attend community events such as Ingress First Saturdays, Cross-faction farms, etc. In most cases users will be given three strikes, on the third strike the users community membership will be terminated. In severe cases, for example: cases that may be deemed dangerous to other users, the IVIE Community Moderators will cast a vote as to whether or not the users membership will be terminated immediately, and if required, proper authorities contacted.

Please do not hesitate to contact any of the moderators listed below with your questions, concerns, beefs, cookies/sweets. All concerns will be discussed amongst the moderator's group.

(B): Code of Conduct for the Moderators of the IVIE Community.

Be considerate. Any decision we take will affect players and moderators, and we should take those consequences into account when making decisions. IVIE has a local base of players and of extralocal contributors. Even if it's not obvious at the time, our contributions and decisions in IVIE will impact the work and play of others. For example, changes to rules and regulations without clear inclusive communication may negatively and inconsiderately impact others' work and play.

Be respectful. The moderators treat one another with respect. Everyone can make a valuable contribution to IVIE. We may not always agree, but disagreement is no excuse for poor behavior and poor manners. We might all experience some frustration now and then, but we cannot allow that frustration to turn into a personal attack. It's important to remember that a community where people feel tense, uncomfortable or threatened is not a productive one. We expect moderators to be respectful when dealing with other moderators as well as with people outside of IVIE and with the players within the community.

Be collaborative. Creative collaboration is essential to IVIE. This collaboration involves individuals working with others in teams, extralocal contributors, and players. This collaboration promotes equality to both teams, reduces redundancy, and improves the quality of our work. Internally and externally, we should always be open to collaboration. Wherever possible, we should work closely with upstream and downstream projects. Our work should be done transparently and we should involve as many interested parties as early as possible. If we decide to take a different approach than others, we will let them know early and inform others regularly of our progress.

When we are unsure, we ask for help. Nobody knows everything, and nobody is expected to be perfect in the community. Asking questions avoids many problems down the road, and so questions are encouraged. Those who are asked questions should be responsive and helpful. However, when asking a question, care must be taken to do so in an appropriate and inclusive IVIE Moderator Chat to ensure everyone is on the same page.

We pride ourselves on building a productive, happy and agile community that can welcome new ideas, and foster collaboration between groups with very different needs, interests, goals and passions.
